About
Hi! My name is Amélie, Amé for short. I am a fiber artist from Ottawa, Ontario in Canada - on the unceded, unsurrended Territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin People.
macrAmélie was founded in 2020, stemming from a fun hobby I picked up to keep me busy during the COVID-19 pandemic and relieve the stress from working as a social worker. I absolutely fell in love with the mindful process of making knots, following patterns and more recently sketching/customizing macramé pieces.
I started selling my macramé pieces at local markets in the Ottawa area. It has been so nice to connect with the community and share my love for handmade macramé. I created an online platform on Instagram to share my creations, promote my market presence in Ottawa as well as welcome real conversation about wellbeing and mental health.
I source my materials from eco-conscious suppliers that make a significant effort to utilize recycled cotton as well as ethically sourced/refurbished wood and clean metals.
Each macramé piece is handmade by yours truly with love.
Stay well xx
Amé
